Move-out cleaning checklist for Philly renters
Moving is stressful enough without worrying about whether your apartment is clean enough for the final walkthrough. Landlords and property managers tend to check the same spots. Use this room-by-room checklist so nothing gets missed.
Kitchen
- Inside and outside of the fridge and freezer (unplug and prop the door open if your lease asks for it)
- Inside the oven, the stovetop and under the burner grates
- Range hood
- Inside the microwave and dishwasher
- Inside every cabinet and drawer
- Counters, backsplash, sink and faucet
Bathrooms
- Toilet inside, outside and around the base
- Tub, shower, grout and any soap scum
- Sink, faucet and mirror
- Inside the medicine cabinet and vanity drawers
Every room
- Baseboards, doors, door frames and handles
- Light switches and outlet covers
- Inside closets, including shelves
- Window sills and blinds
- Spot-clean scuffs and marks on walls
- Vacuum and mop all floors last
Before you hand over the keys
- Take dated photos of every room once it's clean
- Check your lease for any specific cleaning requirements
- Make sure nothing is left behind in closets, cabinets or the basement
